Set in the very centre of a wide mountainous area surrounded by the Dolomiti chain, Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna are all small but lovely holiday resorts worth to be visited for their natural beauty, their sports facilities, the remarkable signs of their past and their cultural events.

Nature lovers can enjoy large woodland areas and green open spaces. The Passo Coe botanical gardens, the Ecken biotope, the Hofentol falls and the Geomorphological Path near Folgaria are only some examples of what tourists can find if they like spending their holiday in a closer contact with nature. Lavarone and Luserna provide tourists with further natural sites, such as the Malga Laghetto biotope, the Còvelo of Rio Malo (a wide karstic cavity), the impressive Avez of Prinzep, the tallest silver fir in Europe, and the Lavarone lake.

Sport-loving tourists can enjoy long mountainbike rides, play golf or tennis, go horseriding or free climbing. The Palasport has two large swimming-pools, a basketball court and a fitness centre. The Palaghiaccio, a huge structure open in winter, is for those who love ice-skating. And finally, for those who like skiing, ski slopes and other sports facilities over a wide area are available for adults and baby-skiers wanting to experience a charming winter atmosphere.

The area is also enriched with precious archeological signs from the past. In Folgaria, there are huge fortesses (Forte Cherle, Forte Sommo Alto, Forte Dosso del Sommo) and military cemeteries dating back to the First World War. Here you can also visit the 18th -century Maso Spilzi, the 16th-century San Valentino chapel, the Madonna delle Grazie sanctuary and the picturesque village called “Guardia” with its impressive paintings. In Lavarone there are some other interesting sights to visit, such as the Forte Belvedere – Gschwent, a touching sign of the World War One heavy fighting, the Slaghenaufi military cemetery and “Piccoli”, a small but lovely village. In Luserna people still speak the ancient Cimbrian language, and here you can visit the Haus von Prükk (the faithful reproduction of a typical Cimbrian house dating back to the 18th century), the Cimbrian Institute, the Costalta military cemetery, Forte Lusérn, Forte Busa Verle, Forte Cima Vézzena and Forte Cima Verena. Not far from Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna there is a small town, Rovereto, worth to be visited for its Historical Museum of War (inside an ancient castle overlooking the whole town) and its impressive Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
